Internal Family Systems – IFS is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapeutic model. The theory is organized around the belief that the mind is naturally multiple. For instance, we may state: “Part of me wants to go to Disneyland yet, another Part of me feels guilty about leaving my dogs alone all day.”
Our inner Parts contain valuable qualities yet, due to emotional wounding: shame, neglect, abuse… our Parts took on burdens: extreme thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors in attempts to adapt to the traumatic event(s).
The good news is that our Core SELF contains qualities that can facilitate the healing process and unburden our Parts; allowing us to regain more balanced thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors thereby, becoming more integrated and whole.
